Men tend not to go for wraps or alternative therapies, but if a man will be open to trying them and then feel and see the effect of the treatments, they will schedule them as they feel their bodies can benefit from them. One of my male clients suffered from arthritis. A Dead Sea Mud Wrap was his favorite treatment, because it minimized and alleviated the inflammation in his joints and the heat helped to sooth the aching muscle pains.
Thalassotherapy and Hydromassage - these waterbased treatments are active and relaxing. Some thalassotherapy and hydromassage can be quite rigorous and too invigorating for some people. When it comes to wraps, be open, try it, you just might like it. |
Put Your Best Face Forward
Facials are a good first spa treatment for men who are nervous about spa treatments. It doesn't involve disrobing, is relaxing, varied and most men are surprised how effective they are - this is largely because men tend to use fewer products on a daily basis and so the effects are quite dramatic.
Facials also provide male skin with the raw materials necessary for healthy cellular activity, to ensure a vibrant, young, glowing complexion. Not only that, but the oxygen and vitamins that are delivered into the dermis will eliminate razor burn, reduce scar tissue, reduce in-growing hairs, whilst the oxygen on the surface will sterilize any cuts caused by shaving and accelerate the healing process. Bacteria cannot survive in an oxygenated skin so breakouts and blemishes are also reduced.
Once a man experiences a facial it quickly becomes one of their favorite services. A facial can include steams, wraps, exfoliation and even Microdermabrasion. Men are beginning to realize that caring for their skin will help to keep their complexions looking as good as possible for as long as possible. Healthy skin will also assist in a smoother and more effective shave, which is good news for many men today. Facials for men are really just a relaunch of the old barbershop steam and shave, so lie back and enjoy it!
Common Facial Concerns:
Should men shave before having a facial?
If you're having a facial, it's a good idea not to have too many days' growth of stubble when you go. This way you will have less hair getting in the way of the oils, lotions and potions enabling them to get into your dermis more easily, and therefore be more effective.
You should not shave immediately beforehand. If you do shave before your facial, be sure to do so at least two hours before your appointment. If your skin feels tender and sore after shaving, it would be best to shave the day or evening before.
If you have a beard, that part of your face is not going to benefit much from the Facial lotions. However, you will benefit from facial massage or a steam that will help boost the flow of blood and lymph to the surface of your skin and make it feel flushed and healthy.
Will I Need to Purchase Products?
After your treatment, the therapist may recommend products from their product line for you to take home. If you feel that it's necessary then by all means, purchase what you feel you can commit to and what will fit into your skincare regimen and facial concerns. You should never leave the spa thinking that you spent money on products you will not use.
