It is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul. The eyes show your thoughts, feelings emotions and with iridology, perhaps your overall body’s health. Your eyes can be said to be smiling eyes, sad eyes, tired eyes, happy eyes, and bedroom eyes. The eyes are where flirtations are made and attractions begin. The eyes are considered among the most beautiful features we have and in many cases they are the first thing that attracts us to another person.
From a purely functional physical viewpoint, eyelashes help to keep dirt and sweat out of your eyes. Eyelashes serve not only to protect your eyes, but they also frame them and enhancing their beauty. If you wear mascara, then that beauty is increased by multiple times. There are many ways for you to enhance your eyelashes that will catch the attention of any onlooker. Modern woman have learn that the flutter of a flirtatious eyelash, can captivate movie audiences and melt men’s hearts. So what is a woman with less than fabulous lashes to do? After all, not all eyelashes are created equal.
I was born with the less than gorgeous, less than glamorous lashes. My lashes have been described just like my hair as straight, thin and silky. The challenge with straight, thin and silky is that it is not easy to take thin and make them look fuller, thicker or flirtier. Fortunately, there are many options to enhance your lashes, and as you would expect I have tried them many of them.
This topic is very close to my heart, because as many woman, I wanted to have the perfect eyelashes for my Hawaiian wedding and honeymoon. What woman does not want to be able to go swimming and get out of the water with great looking eyes in every picture? After all, if you were to ask most women which makeup essential they would not want to leave the house without wearing, they would either say lipstick or mascara. Those who say lipstick, usually plan on wearing sunglasses so no one will see their mascara less eyes.
Back in late 2004 early 2005, the latest trend to jump from the celebrity world to the real world was eyelash extensions. Celebrities like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and Hilary Duff wouldn't dare be photographed without them.

Having less than lushes lashes, and preparing to be married, I decided to explore the world of eyelash extensions. I was referred to my eyelash technician from my hairstylist, so I was confident I would have a great experience. I called them and did some preliminary screening. Wanting my lashes to look great for the wedding, I went 2 days before my wedding to have them done.
I knew something was wrong, when I went in and saw the lashes. I was expecting individual lashes, what I saw was a single base with three lashes. When I questioned the technician about it, she said that her clients preferred these because it gave a fuller effect. I let her know that I wanted my lashes to look longer and a little fuller but I did not want them to have a caterpillar look. She spent 1 hour gluing the lashes to my natural lashes. In the end, she glued my bottom and top lashes together. After several minutes or prying and prodding, I was able to open my eyes. The lashes were very heavy, and I had the feeling that caterpillars had nested on the top of my lashes.
As I went back to the spa that I worked at, I realized that there was no going back. I had to make the best of a bad thing. One of the aestheticians who worked for me took a look at the lashes; I had close to sixty 3 prong lashes on each eye. The base of my lashes was completely one thick band of glue from one end of my eyelash to the other. The glue that was used was a white color and highly visible in areas. I decided to have my aesthetician thin them out. These lashes could not be cut, they would only bend so we gave up on that and settled for using a black waterproof marker to hide the white glue spots. Not knowing if I would have lashes left if I tried to remove them, I decided to leave them until after the wedding and then remove them.
I learned to make light of the lashes, joking that I would not need sunglasses in Hawaii because I had eye permanent eye shades to block the sun out. Little did I know the lashes would have the last laugh. The morning of my wedding, I sneezed. It was a hard sneeze, the type of sneeze that closes your eyes and squeezes them together tightly shut. I heard a crackle pop sound. As I opened my eyes I felt a floppy flap coming from above my eye. I looked in the mirror to find that 1/3 of my eyelash had been torn out and were just dangling in the middle of my eye. The lash extension glue had cracked and ripped out my natural lashes. Not wanting to be lash less in my wedding photos, I decided to drive to the store (45 minutes away in Hawaii) purchase lash glue and try to glue it down until after the wedding. I patched it up, but if you were to see my wedding photos, you would see the crooked lashes. Needless to say, I ended up removing the lashes.
Not wanting anyone else to experience what I had, I went on a mission to learn as much as I could about lashes how to enhance them, and of course learn how to do lash extensions properly. After doing my research, I was the first spa director to add Lash Extensions to the spa menu in Scottsdale, Arizona.
