Of all of the Nail Technicians in the United States and the thousand of ROSE award nominations, I was so surprised that not one spa director, not one client nominated a nail technician for the ROSE awards. I was incredible disappointed, because nail technicians are probably the lowest paid service provider and handle one of our most seen features our hands. They are good listeners, and maintain our hands and feet so they look fabulous everyday of the year as well as for those special moments like weddings, and holidays.
After I got over my disappointment, I realized that I have one of the Best if not the best Nail Technician. Miss (she is Mrs. but she will always be Miss Edna to me) Edna Davila. As an employee, Edna was always happy, always upbeat. She didn’t care if she had 1 manicure for the day or 10 pedicure services for the day, she was happy to come in and glad to be there. If a group was coming in on Edna’s Day off, no problem, she was happy to come in and accommodate them. Stay later, come in earlier, never a problem. Always a smile, only positive words to say. She never complains she is always Spavelous! Edna’s nomination and win is not only about her personality and her disposition, it is also about her skill.
As a nail technician, with many years of experience, Edna could work magic. I still do not know how she does it. I have natural nails, and usually my polish will only last about 2 days before it starts chipping. Perhaps it is because of being a massage therapist and all the oil in my nails. However, when Edna does my nails, my polish easily lasts a week. When I have done television appearances, the calls come in. The question is not about what I presented, but about how great my nails look and who did them. What can I say; Edna is simply the best Nail Technician.
Congratulations to Edna Davila on winning the 2008 Spavelous ROSE Award! |
