Natural Body Spa & Shoppe

Washington, DC-November 1, 2007- Natural Body Spa & Shoppe announces the opening of their newest and greenest location. The Spa is located at 1104 24th St, NW in the former Columbia Women’s’ Hospital site, now a multi level condo project called Columbia Residence in the West End of DC. In addition, this location will join Natural Body’s Ashburn location as the second in the chain to receive an anticipated certification from The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The Ashburn location received a Silver CI certification last year and a Gold Certification is anticipated in DC. The USGBC is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from each sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to work. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for design, and promotes a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

Since 1989, Natural Body has committed itself to their guests, employees and the environment. The company strives to set new standards for the ultimate Green Spa experience. This is evident in the all natural approach to massage, esthetics and body wellness. Natural Body continues their commitment to healthy, natural and organic products. Natural Body’s Atlanta office is also a seed member of the Green Spa Network recently formed to promote greening of the spa industry.

“My commitment to natural living started when I worked for Whole Foods in Bethesda. Natural Body Spa & Shoppe was a perfect choice for a business that my wife and I could grow together. Our belief in organic products and natural services lead us to the next logical step; building green with recycled and sustainable materials.” Said Bart Yablonsky, co-owner.

The 3,700 square foot spa was built in the European tradition. The full service spa will offer a variety of Massage, Facials and Body Treatments. Hand & Foot services are combined with reflexology; this takes these services to next level. Natural Body does not perform any hair service or acrylic nails holding true to their commitment to healthy spa services. About LEED Certification
The first step to LEED certification is to register your project. To earn certification, a building project must meet certain prerequisites and performance benchmarks (“credits”) within each category. Each project will be rewarded a Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum certification depending on the number of credits received. This comprehensive approach is the reason LEED-certified buildings have reduced operating costs, and conservation of natural resources. This also promotes healthier living and more productive occupants. For more information, visit www.usgbc.org
