Las Vegas Spa – Springtime Spa Treatment

March 20th, 2009

Looking to put a little spring back into your step? As if times weren’t hard enough, that hour everyone lost last weekend because of daylight saving time has truly taken its toll on all of us. So why not feel reborn again this spring with a trip to The Spa at New York-New York?

Earlier this week, I reviewed one of the more intimate spas on the Strip and one of its blissful treatments, the Escape Stress Body Escape. For those who are dying to go back (or who still haven’t been), The Spa at New York-New York just announced four new spring treatments available for a limited time, now through April 30. Each treatment includes a free cherry blossom-scented candle guests can take home with them to try and help them escape when they can’t make it back out to the spa. After all, we all need to tighten our purse strings a bit in this economy, right?

For those desperate to get rid of those kinks in their back (and we know you have them!), the Cherry Blossom Massage is just what the doctor ordered. Indulge in your own customized massage with combined elements of Swedish relaxation and therapeutic deep tissue. The refreshing scent of cherry blossoms will accentuate the treatment. The Cherry Blossom Massage is available as a 25-minute service for $70, a 50-minute service for $125 and a 75-minute service for $185.

Or, if you’d rather help rejuvenate your skin this spring, be sure to check out the Cherry Blossom Body Treatment. The 50-minute service ($110) includes a full-body exfoliation with a Cherry Blossom scrub that’s designed to leave your skin feeling soft and smooth, followed by an application of Cherry Blossom lotion for a refreshed, hydrated feeling.

Hydrotherapy Soak at The Spa at New York-New YorkThere’s also the 50-minute Cherry Blossom Soak & Glow ($85) which lets guests relax in a luxurious Cherry Blossom-scented bath while experiencing a mini-facial. Your skin will be ready to glow by the time this heavenly treatment comes to an end! Although I haven’t tried the treatment personally, this one sounds too good to pass up!

Finally, for those who are literally looking to put some spring back into their step, the 50-minute Cherry Blossom Pedicure ($80) lets you enjoy all the classic elements of a pedicure paired with a Cherry Blossom foot and leg exfoliation, followed by a foot and leg massage using a yummy-smelling Cherry Blossom lotion. It’s just what your tired tootsies will be aching for after a long day of walking up and down the Vegas Strip–not to mention the treatment gives you an excuse to check out The Spa at New York-New York’s beautiful manicure/pedicure room.

No matter which spring treatment you end up choosing, remember to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment to enjoy The Spa at New York-New York’s private sauna and steam room. There is also a whirlpool in the men’s lounge and two private hydrotherapy soaks in the women’s lounge, which female guests can use even if they don’t book the Cherry Blossom Soak & Glow for an additional fee ($45 for 30 minutes).

The Spa at New York-New York is open daily from 6:30 a.m. until 7 p.m., with services beginning at 8 a.m. It is located on the third floor of the hotel near the Empire Elevator. Call 702-740-6955 for reservations or simply visit The Spa at New York-New York’s online reservation page.

Luxury Spa Experience – Florida Spa Resort

Few places can hold a candle to ESPA at the Acqualina Resort on Sunny Isles Beach. If you’re looking for luxury and class and a truly nurturing experience for your mind, body, and soul; don’t look any further.

This isn’t a spa bedecked in modernist trimmings and garish colors — everything at ESPA is opulent and classy and inviting. Think rich dark woods contrasted with beautifully textured fabrics, ice basins and steam rooms and specialized showers that curl inside like a snail’s shell. And besides the decor, there are the treatments. ESPA is the brainchild of Susan Harmsworth, an industry leader who has created magnificent spas across the globe from the Maldives to Tokyo, from Killarney to right here in Miami. ESPA specializes in bringing the spa experience to a new apex, and now our local ESPA has unveiled three new technologically advanced facials called Super Active. Even if you’re a seasoned pro at spa treatments, trust me — this is something worth experiencing.
The Super Active product range is designed to target specific skin conditions. The names are pretty self explanatory — there’s Calm and Soothe, Repair and Restore, and Firming Eye Contour. When Pretty in the City was invited for the Super Active experience, a little Calm and Soothe was definitely what the doctor ordered. The treatment was very different from the typical facials I’ve had, which have been typically all about examining the skin under bright lights and magnifying glasses with the intent of extracting imperfections.
“This is all about you,” explained my aesthetician, when I expressed my concern about the dim mood lighting in the room. “Just relax and enjoy the experience.” So I did. Never before has a facial felt so soothing.
Her cool hands massaged my skin, focusing on each area of my face. After a while she asked me to open my eyes and be prepared for a bright light. Holding a blacklight up close to my face, she showed me areas of discoloration. “See where those little orange dots are? That’s sebum. And where it’s a paler purple, those are areas of dehydration. Do you drink enough water?” My skin didn’t lie. Obviously I need to drink more.
My ESPA Super Active experience ended with the smoothing on of the pricey Calm and Soothe concentrate, and moisturizer. Then I was on my way. The ESPA Super Active facial was a one hour and thirty minute journey to discovering what my mind, spirit, and skin needed all along. ESPA action doesn’t come cheap. Holistic facials start at $150, and treatments can run as pricey as $445 for special massages.

Soothing spa ’staycation’ relieves years of pain
Bill Lukas usually goes on an out-of-state summer vacation with his wife and two daughters each year. With the cost of gas increasing last spring, the family decided to try something new: “staycations.”

Rather than traveling the country, the Lukas family visited closer locations like Port Huron, Silver Lake Dunes, Frankenmuth, the Toledo Zoo and various local festivals, fairs and small towns.

“In past years, a summer vacation to an out-of-state destination was a given. This year, it was decided that the summer vacation would consist of a different concept as we wanted to ensure that the budget would not be compromised; thus, affecting our primary family winter vacation to Florida,”

Lukas said. “The family agreed that we would partake in the new concept of ’staycations’ by doing day trips that involve the exploration of local Michigan activities, historic landmarks, metro parks, beaches, fairs, carnivals, outdoor concerts, camping, physical fitness activities, bike riding and anything that promotes better health and welfare.”

Lukas, 49, was at Leo’s Coney Island in Novi talking to a waitress last month about his chronic hip pain and general lack of energy when she suggested he look into Read more…
