The Spring Street building also is set to include a smaller version of Templeton’s Piazza Bistro

The Studio building has an ‘eclectic Mediterranean’ design.

Owner/Contractor: Lorie Twissleman, Paso Robles, and Kevin Hammer, Paso Robles

Architect: Thom Brajkovich Architect, San Luis Obispo

Engineer: Cannon Associates, San Luis Obispo

Project value: About $2 million

What’s happening now: Framing is wrapping up.

Projected completion date: Fall

The Studio salon and spa — featuring facials, hair styling and nail care — is now framed on the former lot of O’Grady’s pub in the 1400 block of Spring Street in Paso Robles.

The 5,000-square-foot lower level also will house a petite version of the Templeton restaurant Piazza Bistro, offering a coffee bar, breakfast and lunch items.

A 1,100-square-foot residential space on the building’s second story could be home to an employee of the company, architect Thom Brajkovich said.

The “eclectic Mediterranean” architecture, with red tile roofs and iron accents, was designed to complement the style of the area, he added.

There also will be a garden area for guests.

Owner Lorie Twissleman will move her current salon, Studio 522, which has operated at 522 Spring St. for the past 10 years, into the new building and rename the business The Studio.

The move is planned for fall, said Kim Walker, Studio 522 director of development.

Twissleman will employ approximately 30 people, Walker said, some from the previous location and some new employees.

Studio 522 plans to stay open until the move.

Samsara Salon and Spa in Sykesville announces new ownership

Betty Thomas and Melissa Wagner, with a combined 22 years of experience in the beauty and wellness industry, announced their partnership to purchase and operate Samsara Salon and Spa, a full service salon and spa in Sykesville.

Thomas and Wagner will host an open house 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Staff will offer complimentary consultations on new hair styles, skin care, nail care, bodywork and makeup. Door prizes, raffles and refreshments will be offered. Bring a friend new to Samsara and enter an exclusive raffle for a spa day.

As longtime employees, Thomas and Wagner saw the opportunity of ownership as a way for them to expand their professional abilities and maintain relationships with their clients.

‘‘My past five years at Samsara as a service provider and operations manager has prepared me to take client focus to the next level,” Thomas said in a press release. ‘‘I am truly excited to be a part of this new chapter for the salon.”
