New business venture, the Al a Mod Salon and Day Spa – Shipshewana IN

Two college friends have begun a new business venture, the Al a Mod Salon and Day Spa, in Shipshewana.
Dana Weaver of Shipshewana and Arlene Strong of Goshen both attended cosmetology schools and met at Elkhart Beauty College in Elkhart.
Weaver said of the two’s motivation, “We were both older than most and had kids. We worked for others — needed to be more flexible — and felt we needed to be on our own. We decided to try a business venture together.”
Besides working in the shop together, they have added Kayla Bruhn, nail technician and aesthetician. Bruhn is also a graduate of Elkhart Beauty College.
Weaver is also a graduate of Tri-State University in Angola and is a licensed manicurist.
Al a Mod Salon and Day Spa is located to the south end of Our Front Porch, 1055 S. VanBuren St., S.R. 5, Shipshewana.
Al a Mod opened Jan. 18. The 2,100-square-foot facility provides ample space for three styling stations.
Services are numerous and include: Hair services, such as hair coloring, perms and cuts; tanning; nail services, such as manicures, pedicures, and artificial nails; facials; massages, such as hot rock, massage and relaxation massage; body wraps; body scrubs; and many waxing services, such as brow waxing, lip and chin waxing, under arm, bikini and Brazilian wax, and back and chest waxes.
