Jackson Ruiz Salon Spa owners seperate after a 10-year hair affair
After more than 10 years as business partners, hairstylists Evelyn Jackson and Allen Ruiz will own separate parts of the Jackson Ruiz Co., which includes Jackson Ruiz Spa Salon and JR Salon Spa. The split is effective April 1.
According to an e-mail, Jackson will own JR Salon Spa on Burnet Road, and Ruiz will own Jackson Ruiz Salon Spa at the corner of West Fifth Street and North Lamar Boulevard. Both have built a steady stream of Austin clients during the past decade, and won accolades for the salon. Jackson Ruiz Salon Spa, a multi-cultural Aveda lifestyle salon, opened in 1998.
“This change will separate the businesses into two distinct companies and allow for each of us to continue our growth, success and service to you our valued guests,” the e-mail to clients reads.
“This decision has been long thought out and celebrates our long-term friendship, our loyal team, and our love for each other. This is by no means a step backward for either of us, but a strong step forward toward continued growth and endless possibility,” the note continues.
