Scottsdale Come to Stay, Play and Spa Everyday

In 1956, just five years after being incorporated as a city, Scottsdale, Arizona was proclaimed "one of the most desirable communities in the West" by Life magazine. Flash-forward 52 years and this dusty, one-horse town that was once little more than orange groves and roaming cattle ranches has blossomed into a thriving vacation destination. Amidst a landscape dotted with enchanting saguaro cactus and Sonoran golf desert vegetation, Scottsdale and its surrounds is home to more than 200 meticulously groomed golf courses, 600 dining destinations, a bevy of upscale boutique shopping and most enticing of all, a hot seat of top resort and day spas.

You could practically go to a spa every day for a year and still not experience each of the spas in Scottsdale, Phoenix market let alone experience the hundreds of  unique spa treatments.

It's a reunion 12 years in the making. Since hosting the 1996 Super Bowl, Phoenix and its suburbs have been growing, expanding, reinventing itself and preparing for the return of the NFL's biggest game.

The last crucial piece finally fell into place in 2006 when the state-of-the-art University of Phoenix Stadium opened in Glendale, a large community west of Phoenix.

Tourists are another major group that Arizona wants to win over. For the past year, the committee has been pushing a "come early, stay late" campaign. The 150,000 visitors expected to travel to Arizona are expected to generate an anticipated $200 million into the local economy.  Hopefully, many travelers will take time before and after the game to extend their trip and take in all that Phoenix, Scottsdale and all surrounding cities has to offer.
