Golden Door Spa at The Boulders Resort

34631 North Tom Darlington Drive Carefree, AZ 85377

A Delightful Alternative To Traditional Scottsdale Accommodations in Carefree Arizona

Situated on 1,300 acres of untouched Sonoran Desert at the edge of Northern Scottsdale in Carefree, Golden Door is a 33,000-square-foot, adobe-style spa surrounded by mesmerizing boulders and plenty of breathing space. Relax by the pool or order a bowl of healing miso soup after your treatment, and be sure to grab a copy of the recipe for the potassium broth the spa serves to guests who hike or take an aerobics class; it is very good.

Golden Door Spa at The Boulders is wrapped around the 12 million-year-old boulders that give the resort its name, Golden Door Spa at The Boulders blends the Zen-like ambiance of the original Golden Door with the healing serenity of the desert where the water brought by early Hohokam tribes let the native people flourish.

It is intimate, warm places with many amenities to try and treatments to enjoy. The entryway's brook and curvaceous architecture envelops visitors into a" home-away-from-home "and is a nod to the spa's flagship facility in Escondido. There are many thoughtful touches throughout the facility, including an exotic and inspiring yoga room and an assortment of niches perfectly suited for a quick nap.  The Labyrinth is an easy-to-miss amenity that is worth seeking out. Utilizing a centripetal walking path for meditation, Golden Door Spa at The Boulders presents a rare opportunity to experience this age-old meditation tool.

Merging the distinct philosophy of the original Golden Door in Escondido, California with the serene Sonoran desert the spa offers a Zen-like atmosphere where curving walls and a trickling stream put guests at ease. The 24-room spa wraps around the north base of the resort’s signature boulder monument, affording inspirational views across the 1,300-acre Boulders property.

It is a little far out there, and not the place to be during the monsoon season or when  Arizona experiences a lot of rain, as the roads in that area will flood making it hard to get in or out.  However, this is Arizona and for the most part it is dry and it is a nice get away.
